She came to True Care Women’s Resource Center planning to abort. Doctors had said she could never have children due to a health condition. The 30-year-old had an amazing career; she spoke at professional conferences and traveled the world. She couldn’t believe she was pregnant, and when she told a friend about her possible pregnancy upon returning to Casper from a trip out of the country, that friend referred her to True Care. Not only was the woman pregnant, but the ultrasound revealed she carried twins. She chose life for those babies and participated in the center’s Resource and Baby & Me programs.
I will never forget that client.
Nor will I forget the woman who came to our center during my first year as a staff member. She was also seriously considering abortion. After learning this woman had experienced two abortions in her past, the center’s advocate provided our client with a book called “Her Choice to Heal.” The client read it that night and fell to her knees seeking God’s forgiveness. She, too, continued her pregnancy; her lovely daughter is a pre-teen, the only child this former client has on this earth. The woman later married, and she, her husband, and her child are strong Christ-followers.

I have worked at True Care for nearly 13 years. As Patient Resources Director, I’ve experienced many stories of changed hearts and minds, and of women encountering God, just like Kayla, the client mentioned above.
When I started in this ministry, less than 20 percent of the clients we saw were either abortion-minded or abortion-determined. This year the proportion of patients we are seeing in those two categories is more than 50 percent, and thus far more than 30 percent of those clients more at risk for abortion have chosen life. We praise God for that!
Pregnancy centers across the nation are impacting lives in similar fashion.
From diapers delivered curbside to helping women from diverse cultures, these pregnancy help organizations rise to the occasion of meeting women where they are … and sharing the love of Christ. Fatherhood programs, programs like Embrace Grace and Walking with Moms, maternity homes, non-profit adoption agencies, and other resources make a difference for women and families.
Pregnancy help centers offer true choice.
Many provide Abortion Pill Reversal (APR), which gives women another choice beside continuing with their chemical abortion. Heartbeat of Miami, for example, provided mothers life-saving APR even during the COVID-19 shutdown; all four of its Miami-area facilities provide reversal.
A report released in June of this year by the Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI) highlights the many positive impacts pro-life pregnancy centers have on women, families, and unborn lives.
One mind-blowing statistic indicates that more than 800,000 unborn lives saved through the work of amazing, dedicated staff and volunteers at America’s pregnancy help centers.
“More than any other group, pro-life pregnancy centers are best equipped to support women facing unintended pregnancies in a post-Roe America,” said Moira Gaul, CLI’s associate scholar of that report.
Yes, yes, we are.

I am proud and humbled to have been part of this beautiful work.
I retire from my position at True Care at the end of December. Amid these nearly 13 years, I have been blessed to work alongside lovely Christian colleagues and meet others, in person and virtually, who share the value of human life.
Sharing stories about my colleagues, stories about pregnancy centers in states I’ve never even visited, is an off-shoot of working at True Care - and a significant blessing. I have been inspired and in awe of the power of God in these places, and I plan to continue sharing such stories.
We know this work is hard, the battle for life is a full-on war - but pregnancy centers are equipped for the battle.
God is our rock and redeemer; He is our fortress and an ever-present help in times of trouble.
When we put on the armor of God and continue marching on, we will see victories amid the skirmishes. The ultimate victory lies ahead, and one day we will see many of those women and families the fight for life has impacted, not only in this world, but in the one to come.
