Be living proof that life is a gift, APR mom tells March for Life Rally crowd

Sarah has shared her story of Abortion Pill Reversal in different settings in hopes of raising awareness for the life-saving protocol.

The latest venue where she has given testimony to saving her son Isaiah after starting a chemical abortion was at the National March for Life Rally in Washington D.C.

Sarah joined other speakers and performers on the rally stage for the 53rd March as abortion via abortion pill has by far topped surgical abortion as the most common method and the safety of chemical abortion drug mifepristone is the center of intense controversy.

Sarah began by telling the crowd she was living proof of this year’s March for Life theme; Life is a Gift.

“I know this because I have seen it, held it, and fight for it by protecting and caring for each of my four children.,” she said.

Sarah recapped her story of feeling as though she had to choose abortion because the father of her fourth child was unsupportive of the pregnancy.

“My only choice was to schedule an abortion and pay them, so that's what I did,” she said.

“It was a chemical abortion,” she said.

Before she was given the pills, one of the workers said something during the ultrasound that she will never forget.

“She said, “You are lucky the heartbeat will hadn't passed, because if it had, we wouldn't be able to continue. We detect a strong heartbeat,” Sarah said. “These words should remind us all that our work in the pro-life movement has real impact.”

“The laws that we advocate for have immense power to save lives and support women,” said Sarah.

She went on to recount how in the cold, sterile abortion facility, she took the first drug of the chemical abortion regimen, leaving with a brown bag containing more pills for later.

There was a stark difference between the abortion center and the outside world, she said, the clinic lifeless and dark, outside, life and light. The contrast left her with something she won’t forget.

“I instantly began to regret my decision, and I broke down in my car,” Sarah said.

“I continued to try and go about my day,” she said, “but I couldn't even so much as look at my children's faces without thinking about the child within me.”

So, Sarah started to search the internet. She came across the hotline number for the Abortion Pill Rescue Network.

“A woman with a warm, helpful voice answered the phone,” she said. “I realized then that I wasn't alone. I wasn't without options, and I could fight for my child's life, and so I did.”

Sarah had connected with a nurse from the Abortion Pill Network (APRN), a network of nearly 1,500 healthcare professionals, pregnancy centers, and hospitals that administer the APR protocol.

Chemical abortion consists of two drugs, mifepristone and misoprostol. The mifepristone blocks the progesterone in a pregnant mom’s system, starving her unborn child of necessary nutrients. The misoprostol, taken a day or two later, prompts the mother to go into labor and deliver her deceased child.

APR entails administering bio-identical progesterone to counter the effects of mifepristone. It is an updated application of a treatment used for decades to combat miscarriage.

All major studies show that using progesterone to counteract an in-progress chemical abortion can be effective because it is bio-identical to progesterone.

A 2018 peer-reviewed study showed positive results with APR, including that 64%-68% of the pregnancies were saved, there was no increase in birth defects, and there was a lower preterm delivery rate than the general population.

Results are best within 24 hours, but reversals have occurred as lang as 72 hours following the mother ingesting mifepristone.

Statistics show that more than 7,000 lives have been saved through APR.

Each month about 200 women call the APRN, which is managed by Heartbeat Interntional, the U.S.'s largest network of pregnancy help organizations, and start Abortion Pill Reversal, amounting to starts a day.

“I met a doctor and a team who gave me care, guidance, love, and most of all, hope,” Sarah said. “Exactly what I was needing, which was far different from the abortion clinic, which I had treated me like a transaction.”

Sarah told the March for Life crowd she was able to reverse the chemical abortion that she began, and her son was born completely healthy on January 11, 2019.

“And he continues to thrive,” she said.

Many people mostly claim that Abortion Pill Reversal doesn't work, said Sarah, and some states are advancing laws that make it harder for doctors to administer APR. She also remarked on the open access of chemical abortion drugs, reduced several times during the Obama and Biden administrations resulting in no medical oversight and significant risk for women.

“Most women now don't even have to go to a medical facility like I did,” Sarah said. “They are given abortion pills to be taken at home, alone, a highly dangerous act that can be fatal, not only for their unborn babies, but for these women.”

“I am here to tell you that Abortion Pill Reversal can work,” she said. “My life, and the life of my son, are living proof.”

Sarah shared that her son is one of the greatest joys of her life, and she offered some advice for the pro-life advocates in attendance.

“Saving a life can be as simple as answering a phone call, bringing a friend to an ultrasound, or helping her pick out a car seat,” she said. “Or you can also show up in any little moment.”

“Small sacrifices can become enormous victories that can support moms like me and children like mine,” Sarah continued. “You have that power. Be that person who connects a woman to hope. Be the reason she knows she's not alone.”

She made a point of thanking the men present and told them their voice carries weight, and they are needed.

Sarah concluded with the invitation for those gathered for the March to make a commitment to be living proof that life is a gift.
