The founder and chair of the U.S. Senate Pro-Life Caucus offered encouragement to moms, babies, and those who offer them care and support while they were in Washington D.C. to share the good news about pregnancy help.

Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) addressed the closing luncheon of Heartbeat International’s Babies Go to Congress event, discussing pro-life events of the day and expressing gratitude to those present for standing for life.

Daines shared that he and his wife Cindy have four children and four grandchildren, their fourth one on the way.

“We're big fans of moms and babies,” Daines said, “and we look for more of that in our country.”

Babies Go to Congress takes moms and their babies to the nation’s capital to meet with their lawmakers, with the moms sharing their stories of pregnancy help to build awareness and communicate to the Congress members that pregnancy help centers are good for America.

Heartbeat International is the largest network of pregnancy help in the U.S.

After appointments with senators, representatives, and/or their staff in the various lawmakers’ offices, the moms and their babies along with the Heartbeat team gather for lunch, where the moms and others share their experiences with the meetings.

Daines visited briefly with the Babies Go to Congress gathering as the luncheon kicked off.

He offered congratulations on some of the victories that are now taking place in the battle for life.

Daines said he’d personally delivered a letter to the CEO of Google addressing the issue of pro-life censorship.

“Asking ‘why are you censoring the ability to talk about abortion pill reversal at the same time you allow free advertising of abortion pills?” Daines said.

Google pulled ads for Abortion Pill Reversal placed by Heartbeat and pro-life group Live Action last fall, after a pro-abortion group agitated for removal of the ads. Facebook was targeted as well, prompting a review of the ads on its platform.

Daines headed the effort to send a letter to Google CEO Sundar Pichai, the letter saying in part that, “It is shameful that Google has acted to appease pro-abortion activists by silencing pro-life voices, rather than considering all the evidence and following the science.”

Heartbeat had appealed the suppression of the ads to no avail.

The issue of Big Tech suppression of pro-life voices continues.

“And so, we we need to continue this battle,” Daines said. “And I thank you for standing strong on that.”

Daines remarked how Big Tech censorship extends to political conservatives as well. He shared that recent analysis had shown that Google spam filters suppressed nearly two-thirds of outbound emails coming from Republican candidates in the last election cycle, probably costing the candidates one-and-a-half-billion dollars in fundraising, he said.

“That’s a ‘B,’” said Daines.

This wasn’t just fundraising emails quashed by Google’s filters, the senator explained, it also suppressed get out the vote efforts.

“So, we’re going to aggressively keep pursuing this,” Daines said, “in this battle that we’re fighting here, ultimately to protect life, and protect these babies.”

The senator discussed the leak of the majority opinion draft in the Dobbs case, calling the breach, “reprehensible.”

There have been protests, threats, violence, breaches of church services in areas across the U.S. from abortion supporters angry about the prospect that Roe v. Wade could be struck down.

Daines pointed out that the Senate had passed legislation on Monday of that week extending security protection to the Supreme Court justices and their families

“So, as you pray for our country pray the specific protection of our Supreme Court justices,” he said.

Daines noted the Senate vote one day prior on the Women's Health Protection Act, pro-abortion lawmakers’ attempt to codify Roe and prevent the states from regulating abortion. The measure failed in a 49-51 vote, all Senate Democrats supporting it, with the exception of one, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV).

“Can you imagine … can you imagine codifying Roe v. Wade?” Daines asked the pregnancy help gathering.

He explained how the law would go beyond codifying the Roe ruling and the law’s extreme nature.

“It's much more than that,” said Daines. “It’s really allowing abortion up until the day of delivery - that’s what they were really were trying to drive forward.”

“It would basically legalize late-term abortion,” he said, “putting us (the U.S) in the same category of the seven countries that permit late-term abortion.”

“That's just chilling,” Daines said.
