Phillips community pregnancy center also operates a medical clinic to make low-cost medical services available to families and individuals in the area
Less than a week after U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland was asked by Members of Congress what his team at the Department of Justice was doing to arrest the pro-abortion vandals attacking pregnancy help organizations nationwide, another pregnancy center was targeted with vandalism and threats in Minnesota.
Radical pro-abortion groups such as Jane’s Revenge and Ruth Sent Us have attacked pregnancy centers, pro-life groups, and churches in more than 100 attacks throughout the U.S. since the leak of the Dobbs decision last May. The attacks have included firebombing, other vandalism, and threats.
This past weekend, First Care Pregnancy Center in the Phillips community of Minneapolis was the target of such an attack. Pro-abortion vandals broke windows and sprayed graffiti on the walls threatening, “If abortions arn’t (sic) safe neither r u.”

Also, this past weekend, a group called Minnesota Abortion Action Committee protested at the pregnancy center, demanding lawmakers not fund pregnancy help organizations. First Care does not receive state funding and is funded entirely by private donations. The vandalism committed against First Care center is visible in the pictures with the protestors, shared on social media.
The protest organizers acknowledged this fact in a tweet and used this center as an example to send a message to their state’s lawmakers:
“While First Care is not state funded, many CPCs in Minnesota are, and legislators need to act now to pass the Positive Pregnancies Support Act to disqualify these anti-abortion, religious backed organizations from receiving tax-payer dollars!”
According to their website, the Minnesota Abortion Action Committee (MNAAC) was founded in response to the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022. They identify themselves as “a coalition of progressive organizations based in many of the people’s movements for justice.”
While First Care is not state funded, many CPCs in Minnesota are, and legislators need to act now to pass the Positive Pregnancies Support Act to disqualify these anti-abortion, religious backed organizations from receiving tax-payer dollars!

Following the attack on First Care Pregnancy Center the center’s executive director highlighted the material and social support that the pregnancy help organization offers the community in a statement. New Life Family Services operates the Phillips community pregnancy help center, one of five of New Life’s First Care centers in the Twin Cities area.
“Our First Care centers provide 100,000 diapers, baby clothes, car seats, strollers, and other supplies every year to families in need,” Tammy Kocher said. “Our licensed social workers support more than 2,000 women each year through the challenges of motherhood, including many who are experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, or mental health crisis.”
While the pro-abortion vandals behind groups such as claim that they act on behalf of women, their actions only hurt women in need should they at all impede delivery of much-needed services to families in the community.
The First Care Pregnancy Center was built with space for a community medical center. The clinic is run by two medical doctors who are immigrants from Africa, New Life Family Services President Carl Nelson said, with the goal of providing healthcare to those in need in the local community.
Kocher further clarified this, along with the good that First Care performs in the south Minneapolis Phillips neighborhood, pledging to continue serving women and families there.
“This First Care center was built with private donations and houses a separate non-profit medical clinic providing low-cost medical services to families and individuals living in South Minneapolis,” Kocher said. “The founders of the non-profit clinic are medical doctors who emigrated from Africa and are committed to making affordable health care accessible in the community.”
“We are fully committed to continue serving the Phillips community,” said Kocher, “as well as at all our centers, with the holistic compassion and care families deserve.”
