Voting for a universal pro-life flag is underway, closes July 19

Earlier this year, The Pro-Life Flag Project (PLFP) called on designers in the pro-life community to submit original designs for a universal, pro-life flag. The contest aimed to ultimately produce a single, well-known, unifying flag that would represent the worldwide pro-life movement.

Designers heard the call and submitted their designs. All submissions have now been narrowed to six design finalists.

Will McFadden, founder of the PLFP, provided a written response to Pregnancy Help News, encouraging all pro-lifers to participate in the voting phase of this project.

“Over the course of the Pro-Life Flag Project, while sorting through thousands of varying design ideas and listening to unique feedback from our 70+ pro-life partner organizations, my team and I have continued to be amazed at how large and diverse the pro-life movement truly is. Members of this movement come from different backgrounds, religions, & political affiliations all united by a common goal: ending abortion."

He noted that the different backgrounds allow for a variety of design tastes to flourish, providing a spectrum of styles being considered.

"We encourage you to vote for your favorite designs while remaining open and accepting of whatever banner is ultimately selected to unify our wide movement against the evil of abortion."

Now it’s in the hands of you, the voters. Voting is public, currently underway, and will be open until July 19, 2021.

According to their website, the PLFP team asks that you keep several guidelines in mind when voting. An effective pro-life flag will be:

  • Instantly recognizable and set apart from other flags
  • Symbolic of the pro-life movement
  • Usable across items to promote the pro-life viewpoint

The PLFP team provided basic recommendations that informed the flag designing process, plus flag guidelines specific to the pro-life movement. Each design must include an element that represents the mother of the child and an element that represents the child.

You now have a chance to be part of this project by voting for your favorite design.

After the final design is chosen, the PLFP team encourages people to “Create! Manufacture! Brand! Be Creative!" With the only restriction being that the design alone cannot be used as an organization’s official logo, the PLFP encourages pro-life non-profits to use the flag in ways that will promote their organization and support the larger pro-life movement as a whole.

On July 23, the winner will be revealed to the entire pro-life movement. The top winners will also be awarded cash prizes.
