Pro-life Group to Broadcast Live, 4-D Ultrasound in Times Square This Saturday

Pro-life Group to Broadcast Live, 4-D Ultrasound in Times Square This SaturdayFocus on the Family and ICU Mobile's "Alive from New York" ultrasound mobile unit

After New York shocked the country with its egregious law expanding late-term abortion this January, Focus on the Family decided to act, bringing the value and dignity of human life back to the forefront of the discussion.

To do so, the pro-life, conservative group organized a 12-week campaign, called "See Life Clearly," capping it off with an event called "Alive From New York" to be held in Times Square this Saturday, May 4.

“We’re looking to fill Times Square with pro-life Americans, and it will feature live music, compelling and inspirational speakers, and best of all, live 4-D ultrasounds broadcast on a massive digital marquee in Times Square, powerfully showing the world that a baby inside the womb is fully human and should be given the chance to be born,” Focus on the Family announced in February.

Ultrasound has been a core aspect of Focus on the Family’s pro-life outreach since the group initiated its Option Ultrasound Program in 2004. Through that initiative, the group provides grants to pregnancy medical clinics, covering 80 percent of the cost of an ultrasound machine or sonography training for a clinic’s medical personnel. To qualify for that grant, a clinic must be “located in a community with a high abortion rate and seeking to reach abortion-minded women.”

This week’s Times Square ultrasound broadcast is a reflection of the life-saving impact the technology has had on families for the last several years.

From the organization:

Ultrasound technology is a proven tool to help save pre-born life. In fact, over the course of the last 15 years, Focus on the Family has helped save an estimated 425,000 babies by placing ultrasound machines in high-abortion-risk areas of the country.

The ultrasounds that attendees will see on May 4th will be conducted inside a medium-sized mobile unit, an RV that regularly travels the country fully equipped with sonogram technology providing this life-saving service to women thinking about having an abortion.

This week, that mobile unit, which is operated by the pro-life group ICU Mobile, is making its way across the U.S. to New York, stopping at pro-life pregnancy help centers in Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Ohio. Focus on the Family invited supporters to come out to tour the vehicle and pray with the local pro-life ministries on each leg of the unit’s tour.

Supporters can follow the group’s cross-country roadshow on Focus on the Family’s Instagram where Social Media Manager Jake Roberson is posting daily updates via Instagram Stories.

Along the way, Roberson says the mobile team has hit some snags, including a fire in the vehicle before departure and an interface with a semi truck which took out the unit’s mirror.

But he also says that the mobile unit is offering educational opportunities to people who see the vehicle and are curious about its services.

“Even in the mishaps, God is working, and people are asking questions,” he said on Instagram. “This is a beautiful thing. We’re so excited about how God is still working in the midst of the obstacles we’re facing. You know what? He’s good, y’all. He’s good.”
