Kamala Harris – A viable choice for American women?

Fact checking her claims about women, healthcare, and abortion.

Kamala Harris, arguably the most radical presidential candidate in our nation’s history, is now the face for limitless abortion in all 50 states. Her extreme stance on abortion is expected to galvanize Democrat voters in the final sprint to the 2024 election. How far will she go to protect and promote Big Abortion?

Serving under Joe Biden, she made abortion a focal point of her tenure as the country’s first female vice president. She embarked on a nationwide “Reproductive Freedoms (AKA abortion) Tour” and became the first vice-president to visit an abortion facility. At her Planned Parenthood visit, she seemingly celebrated that thousands of children have lost their lives within these clinics.

Harris claimed
the overturning of Roe v. Wade was a “direct assault on freedom” and “on the fundamental right of self-determination to which all Americans are entitled.”

During her speech on the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade last year, she intentionally omitted the “right to life” when quoting the Declaration of Independence.

"We collectively believe and know; America is a promise … It is a promise of freedom and liberty," Harris said. "Not just some, but for all. A promise we made in the Declaration of Independence, that we are each endowed with the right to liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Be clear, these rights were not bestowed upon us, they belong to us as Americans."

Abraham Lincoln called the Declaration of Independence “a rebuke and a stumbling-block to tyranny and oppression.” It continues to inspire people around the world to fight for freedom and equality. Ironically, Harris felt she was entitled to rewrite a founding document to exclude the right to life.

Her attempt to diminish the value and right to life is deliberate as she pursues support of unlimited abortion access.

But this is not the only misconception Vice President Harris shares regarding the right to life and abortion on demand otherwise known as “reproductive rights.” Much of what she is saying is steeped in fallacy.

Harris claims abortion limits are causing a “healthcare crisis.” She states that restrictions on abortion have led to serious medical emergencies for millions of American women.

Fact Check: Abortion itself is the cause of a healthcare crisis, not so called “limits.” The drastic increase in chemical abortion in recent years is flooding emergency rooms across the nation with those seeking care after having had a chemical abortion. Chemical abortion has four times the physical risks of complications than surgical abortion and has increased ER visits by a whopping 500%.

Bottom line: Women are now forced to “manage” their own abortions and symptoms by abortion providers who do not provide true healthcare - causing an actual “healthcare crisis” that is unprecedented.

Harris claims she is “pro-choice,” and that, “We have to be a nation that trusts women.” Harris claims she stands for “the freedom of every American, including the freedom of every person everywhere to make decisions.

Fact Check: Harris is pro-abortion only and works to diminish other choices in pregnancy. She has persecuted those who offer support for pregnancy options other than abortion, such as the 300+ help medical clinics in her home state of California. While District Attorney, Harris drafted a bill “from its inception” that would have forced these pregnancy medical clinics to refer for abortion and birth control. In her efforts to hide options other than abortion and also withhold support for other options, she directly targeted pro-life clinics’ commercial and political speech and had no concern of the violations of the First Amendment to the Constitution.

Bottom line: Kamala Harris is the “abortion no matter what” candidate.

Harris claims abortion is a solution for sexual abuse, rape and incest.

Fact check: Women need healing and support after an assault, not the second trauma of an abortion. Instead of pushing victims towards ending the lives of their children, she should be talking about why women were abused in the first place and better protections for them. We should be working as a nation to offer compassionate choices that do not harm women a second time. Rather than look to abortion as a cure-all, stricter penalties and effective enforcement of these crimes would better serve women.

Guttmacher Institute estimates about 1% of abortions are sought for reasons of rape, and less than 0.5% for reasons of incest. Yet these arguments tend to swing the door open to abortion and give abusers a convenient way to hide their crimes.

Bottom line: Punishing the criminals rather than the women and children who are victims of abuse and assault is a long-term solution rather than a coverup of sexual crimes.

Harris claims abortion clinics provide essential medical care including mammograms.

Fact check: This myth likely began back in 2011 when some politicians, in an effort to place value on Planned Parenthood services, began to assert that Planned Parenthood offered actual medical care, including mammograms and cancer screenings. With each election this argument resurfaces in an effort to rebut that Planned Parenthood is just a front for abortion masquerading as a reproductive health organization. However, the Federal Drug Administration’s list of certified mammography facilities, updated weekly, does not list any Planned Parenthood clinics

Harris asserts that defunding the nation’s largest abortion provider, who receives about $600 million in taxpayer funds each year) would remove this vital medical care. Yet federally qualified health centers could absorb the miniscule amount of real medical care Planned Parenthood provides and that money could be redirected toward real clinics that actually provide mammograms and other true healthcare.

Bottom line: Abortion is not healthcare and Planned Parenthood services are primarily abortion.

Harris claims women are suffering miscarriages and are rejected by an emergency room due to state's abortion laws. Harris shares stories of women who have miscarried in toilets or developed sepsis because they were denied help by doctors concerned about violating abortion restrictions.

Fact check: This fear tactic used by secular media, the propaganda arm of Big Abortion, is meant to scare women and influence abortion law. But the truth is that no abortion law prohibits the treatment of miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy and healthcare providers are not in any way confused on who and how to treat these conditions. This is a political ploy - not medical confusion.

Bottom line: Abortion is not healthcare and those in need of real healthcare for miscarriage are receiving that care.

Harris claims
abortion restrictions have caused human suffering.

Fact check: Abortion itself, not the regulation of it, is causing human suffering. Science reveals that the human brain does not need to be fully developed to experience pain and many areas of pain perception are developed by 12 weeks gestation. Babies in utero suffer pain.
In addition, women are experiencing tremendous physical and emotional pain, typically in isolation from healthcare and support during their abortion. Abortion is linked to elevated risks of suicide attempts, completed suicide, sleep disorders, addiction or misuse of drugs and/or alcohol, bi-polar disorder, anger or rage, difficulties parenting, increased risk of premature death and other emotional or mental health issues.

One meta-analysis estimated that “women who had undergone an abortion experienced an 81% increased risk of mental health problems.”

Bottom line: Abortion causes human suffering both for the mother and for the child.

Harris claims pro-life people are extremists who want to “roll back the clock to a time before women were treated as full citizens.”

Fact check: Pro-life people are extreme in their ability and desire to love and to proclaim the inherent dignity of every human being, to promote the health and well-being of the family, including their preborn children, and in their ability and desire to bring awareness and speak up for the “least of these” who cannot speak up for themselves. They dream of a time when every new life is welcomed, and children are nurtured within strong families, and they work diligently toward that goal.

An example of the pro-life people Harris is referencing are those who serve at the grassroots level in 3,000+ pro-life pregnancy centers, medical clinics, and maternity home locations nationwide, providing essential, compassionate, professional care to families in their communities. They serve nearly one million families annually, even while under attack in the media and in the courts, their work persevere. These organizations provide real healthcare by medical professionals and have exceptional client satisfaction rates. Operating in love and wholistic care with life-saving results, these centers have identified and responded to current issues like human trafficking, homelessness, domestic violence, sexually transmitted disease morbidity, and abortion pill regret and reversal, offering not only real support and healthcare, but also hope for the future.

Bottom line: Women making a pregnancy choice deserve the care required to make the best choice possible for everyone in an unexpected pregnancy. Every child deserves the chance to experience the beauty of life. And every family deserves the support needed to parent their children in healthy and loving ways, and the resources to provide for their needs. All of this is timeless work and thrives within the pro-life community.

Women, children, and families deserve more and better than the radical Harris abortion agenda.
