Heartbeat International sent a letter Thursday to the group behind a pro-abortion report used to urge Google’s removal of Abortion Pill Reversal ads from its platform, demanding the group remove factually false information from its report and issue a correction.

Google had removed ads promoting Heartbeat International’s Abortion Pill Reversal hotline on Tuesday following inaccurate claims contained in the report titled, “Endangering Women for Profit,” from the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH). Other news outlets then amplified this false data in their own reporting.

The letter from Heartbeat calls for the full and immediate removal of incorrect data from the report and demands a correction be published, noting the inaccuracies.

“The CCDH’s choice to base this report on inaccurate information and a single failed study demonstrates their interest is promoting Big Abortion and not empowering women with real choices,” said Jor-El Godsey, President of Heartbeat International. “By removing Abortion Pill Reversal ads from Google, they silence the only viable option for women who are looking to reverse the effects of the abortion pill, effectively forcing women to complete an abortion they no longer want.”

The study Godsey referenced is the Mitchell Creinin study, Creinin, the pro-abortion doctor and paid consultant of the abortion pill manufacturer Danco Laboratories. Creinin’s study was intended to debunk the Abortion Pill Reversal protocol but was halted before completion and ended up demonstrating some of the dangerous side effects of the abortion pill. It has nonetheless been repeatedly used by abortion proponents in attempts to discredit APR.

Abortion apologists routinely assail APR as junk science, oppose the protocol legislatively and attack it in the courts. Acknowledgement that women might regret choosing abortion conflicts with the abortion industry narrative of abortion as empowerment. The idea of reversing chemical abortion also presents a threat the abortion industry’s bottom line.

As an easier hands-off approach for an abortionist to end an unborn child’s life, chemical abortion now accounts for roughly half of all abortions performed in the U.S.

The chemical abortion pill, also known as RU-486, medical abortion, medication abortion, at-home abortion, self-managed or DIY abortion, consists of two drugs.

The first drug, mifepristone, blocks progesterone, the natural hormone in a mother’s body necessary to sustain a pregnancy. The second drug, misoprostol, taken a day or two after the first, causes the mother to go into labor and deliver her deceased child.

There are numerous complications associated with the abortion pill, many are serious.

Should complications occur from the abortion pill, the woman is usually at home, often alone to deal with the (at times severe) side effects.

If a woman starts the chemical abortion process and experiences regret, she may be able to save her unborn child if she acts soon enough.

Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) involves administering progesterone to counter the first abortion drug. The protocol is an updated application of a treatment used since the 1950s to prevent miscarriage.

A 2018 peer-reviewed study showed positive results for APR, with 64%-68% of the pregnancies saved through the protocol, no increase in birth defects and lower preterm delivery rate than the general population.

The Abortion Pill Rescue® Network (APRN), managed by Heartbeat International, consists of roughly 1,000 medical providers and pregnancy help centers who facilitate APR. The Abortion Pill Rescue Network answers more than 150 mission-critical calls a month from women who regret their abortion decision. Statistics show that more than 2,500 lives have been saved (and counting) through the Abortion Pill Reversal protocol.

Heartbeat and those behind the APRN believe that no woman should ever feel forced to finish an abortion she regrets.

With the APR ads banned from Google, women who experience regret after having started the chemical abortion process and who wish for a second chance to choose life for their unborn children will be blocked from information on the lifesaving APR protocol.

CCDH is based in London and targets accused “hate groups” or individuals for de-platforming campaigns and removal from social media platforms.

Heartbeat’s letter informed the group’s leadership of the group’s misattribution of more than 100 Google ads to Heartbeat in its report.

“In fact, as your organization would have learned if it had done its due diligence, Heartbeat did not place a single advertisement that your organization’s Report has misattributed to Heartbeat,” the letter states.

The letter demands removal or correction of the factually false information, along with any associated analysis and conclusions drawn from the false info. In addition to removal of the erroneous information, Heartbeat is also demanding a correction noting the inaccuracies contained in the original report, and proof that this has been done by the following day, Friday, September 17.

“As the statistics show, Abortion Pill Reversal has saved over 2,500 babies and empowered women by putting choice back into their hands,” Godsey said. “These are the stories that the ads targeted by Google and CCDH tell. The Center for Countering Digital Hate would rather pretend these women and children do not exist than allow a true choice for women.”
