The American Nurses Association (ANA) has declared May 6-12 National Nurses Week, and Heartbeat International, in honor of the hundreds of nurses working or volunteering in life-affirming medical clinics around the country, is joining the celebration.
The ANA’s theme for this year is “Culture of safety: It Starts With YOU,” a theme that’s certainly true for the nurses in the pregnancy help movement.
Whether performing limited ultrasounds, charting patient records or administrating STI testing and treatment, life-affirming nurses play a crucial role in creating a culture where patients—both in and out of the womb are protected and nourished.
To celebrate these selfless nurses, Heartbeat International is offering five online courses for just $5 each during National Nurses Week.
Offered through Heartbeat Academy, the courses are available for contact hours and continuing education credits for the Life-Affirming Specialist (LAS) designation, the only professional designation for the pregnancy help community.

While 2016 is the Heartbeat International’s first foray into offering discounts for National Nurses Week, the network of over 2,000 worldwide locations launched Pregnancy Help Appreciation Week in November of 2014 and followed up with its second annual event 2015—kicked off by a thank-you video from U.S. Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah).
