While abortion remains a hot-button issue ahead of the November 5 U.S. election, pro-life citizens will have their annual opportunity to pay their respects to the unborn who were murdered in their mothers’ wombs.
On September 14, the 11th National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children will be held at designated locations throughout the country. This event—a joint project of the Pro-Life Action League and Citizens for a Pro-Life Society that was launched in 2013—strives to encourage pro-lifers to mourn aborted babies at “memorial sites dedicated” to these unborn victims “as a regular part of their pro-life witness.”
According to the event’s webpage advertising this year’s memorial, citizens must “become truly aware of the reality of abortion” if they are to “cut through the lies by which some try to justify” killing the unborn as well as the “natural apathy to which human nature is inclined.”

Event organizers noted that the deep understanding and horror of abortion can be reached “in various ways,” such as listening to detailed descriptions of abortion procedures, viewing pictures of aborted babies, and hearing the “personal testimony” of women who regret their abortions. Additionally, the heart-wrenching reality of abortion can be felt on an “even more profound level when experienced during an event, such as the funeral for an aborted baby.”
Organizers have also noted that, although funerals for aborted children are “relatively rare,” visiting their burial spots to mourn their deaths “does not have to” and “shouldn’t be.” Gravesites throughout the United States have been used to bury tens of thousands of aborted children who were “retrieved” after being killed in their mothers’ wombs.
Since the overturning of Roe v. Wade in June 2022, Day of Remembrance organizers are emphasizing the need to “continue to mourn the millions of children killed by abortion as we work state by state to extend legal protection to children in the womb.”
The event is also a hopeful effort to provide “healing to women who have had abortions” as well as those who “have been hurt by abortion such as fathers and grandparents who were never allowed to grieve the death of a child hurt by abortion.”

There are hundreds of memorial sites dedicated to aborted children, as well as 60 gravesites, located across the nation. A list of these sites can be found here for all those who would like to participate in “helping to humanize our aborted brothers and sisters” through the annual prayer campaign. Some locations are also hosting memorial services, which have already been scheduled. Interested participants can filter search results to find either gravesites only or locations with scheduled services.
If there is not a memorial service set to take place in your city or town, additional services can be scheduled using this form, but those looking to do so are signing up to manage the following responsibilities: arranging, promoting, organizing, inviting, and documenting the event.
Additionally, if there are gravesites or memorial services that are not listed on the website, pro-lifers aware of unlisted locations can contact the Remembrance Day organizers to update the information.
