The Administration on Children, Youth and Families of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issued its funding opportunity announcement Apr. 21 for $5,177,322 in funds to go to 34 grant recipients to combat human trafficking.
The Maternity Group Home Program Department of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issued its funding opportunity announcement Apr. 19 $5,132,512 in funds to go to 21 grant recipients for maternity homes.

The deadline for the Children, Youth and Families human trafficking grant application is Jun. 21 and the deadline for the Maternity Group Home Program grant application is Jun. 18.

Federal Grant Available for Combatting Human Trafficking
On April 21, 2021, the Administration on Children, Youth and Families of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issued a Funding Opportunity Announcement, stating its intent to distribute $5,177,322 to thirty-four (34) grant recipients for purposes of preventing the sexual abuse, human trafficking, or exploitation of young people living on the streets or in unstable housing. The awards will cover a 36-month, three-year period with three 12 month, one-year budget periods.
Grant details are below:
Due Date: June 21, 2021 at 11:59pm EST (for electronic submissions)
Paper submissions only allowed upon request and prior approval
Projected Amounts: $150,000-Ceiling (Maximum per applicant)
$90,000-Floor (Minimum per applicant)
$100,000-projected average per applicant
Basic Requirements:
• Must be a 501c3 organization (including faith-based organizations.
• Must conduct outreach and engage with runaway, homeless, and street youth/young adults to keep them safe and help them leave the streets
• Priority will be given to public and non-profit private agencies that have experience in providing services to runaway, homeless, and street youth.
• Must provide runaway, homeless, and street youth/young adults access to an emergency shelter or safe and stable housing on a 24-hours-a-day basis. When referring youth to a shelter, the shelter must have a vacancy for the youth and meet the state requirements for licensing; it must be supervised and age-appropriate, with an atmosphere that youth will trust.
• Must provide transportation to shelters, as needed. For shelter provided through referrals, shelter organizations must guarantee that street outreach staff can enter the shelter 24 hours a day to access clients in residence. Safe housing for youth victims of trafficking must be carefully considered when identifying emergency shelters.
• Must meet a cost matching requirement that will depend on amount of award granted. For example, for a $150,000 award the cost-matching requirement is $16,667.

On April 19, 2021, the Maternity Group Home Program Department of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issued a Funding Opportunity Announcement, stating its intent to distribute $5,132,512 to twenty-one (21) grant recipients for purposes of providing shelter and supportive services to pregnant and/or parenting youth. The awards will cover a 36-month, three-year period with three 12 month, one-year budget periods.

June 18, 2021 at 4:30pm EST (for paper submissions)
Projected Amounts: $250,000-Ceiling (Maximum per applicant)
$100,000-Floor (Minimum per applicant)
$175,000-projected average per applicant
Basic Requirements:
- Must be a 501c3 organization (including faith-based organizations, but not institutions of higher education)
- Must provide shelter AND supportive services (e.g. Parenting skills/education, Health and Nutrition, Family Budgeting assistance). Choosing one or the other is not an option.
- Must provide safe and stable housing that is:
- Community-based
- Adult-supervised
- A transitional living arrangement that provides:
- pregnant and/or parenting youth and their children with a supportive and supervised living arrangement for a continuous period not to exceed 540 days, or 635 in exceptional circumstances
- Minors may remain in program until age 18

- Meet a cost matching requirement that will depend on amount of award granted. For example, for a $250,000 award the cost-matching requirement is $27,778.00.
