Democrat politicians across the country are making efforts to suppress pregnancy centers.
Don’t count out every Democrat, though. There are plenty of pro-life Democrats who want to support pregnancy centers, according to Democrats for Life of America (DFLA) Executive Director Kristen Day. And they successfully put their money where their mouth is recently by hosting a successful diaper drive for pregnancy help organizations in answer to extreme abortion promotion tactics.
“I am a huge fan of pregnancy centers,” Day said during a phone interview with Pregnancy Help News.
Day proved that support when she took offense to the free abortions offered outside the Democratic National Convention this past summer. Day organized a fundraiser to give thousands of diapers to pregnancy centers in the metropolitan Chicago area during the convention.

“When I saw that abortion truck, I found it really, really disgusting,” Day said, “I said, ‘We’re going to raise money for diapers. Let’s raise $1,000.’ We ended up raising $9,000.”
Democrats for Life organization rented its own truck. Approximately 40 volunteers ventured out into the Chicago area visiting every pregnancy center, food pantry and migrant center.
The diaper drive is continuing, and the group continues to provide diapers as support comes forth. They have a goal of one million diapers before the November election.
“(Pregnancy help workers) are really the front lines,” Day said. “I admire their commitment. They’re just good people helping people.”
Word spread, and other drives were conducted across the United States.
During this election season, Day and her staffers and volunteers are busy campaigning, trying to educate members of their party about the pro-life movement.
She recently spent time on Capitol Hill meeting with six different Democrat officials and/or their staff. Only one of those officials was adamantly against Day’s efforts after she presented her case for life and for support of pregnancy centers.
The others, she said, admitted that what she shared about the efforts of pregnancy centers was “eye-opening.”
Many Democrat pro-choice officials believe the pregnancy centers pressure women out of abortions and that their medical clinics are fake.
Day gives perspective on how licensed medical professionals oversee these clinics and how workers and volunteers encourage and support the women and provide them with education about the abortion process.
“Some of them say (about pregnancy centers), ‘They lie,’” she said. “I say that not every pregnancy center is perfect. I tell them to let me know the names of the centers who lie. They never have examples.”

Day noted she believes the party “needs a big wake-up call,” and that middle America is quickly “turning red.”
She said the pro-life view is “very consistent” with traditional Democrat values, and the party has moved away from this aspect.
“Pregnancy centers help people,” she said. “They are no different than shelters, food pantries and other agencies.” And by opposing pregnancy centers, Democrats are straying from their core values.
Day talked about this in her op-ed in America Magazine.
“The fact that this could occur next to the party’s most important gathering highlights a growing disconnect between the party and many of its traditional supporters,” she said in the column.
As the Presidential election is upon us, Day said, the party does not endorse Vice President Kamala Harris as she has “spread misinformation” about abortion.
While the group also does not endorse Donald Trump, Day said she believes more pro-life Democrats will turn from the party. She gave the example of Rep. Marvin Robinson, a Democrat from Kansas who often voted with the GOP and had specifically voted to overturn the Kansas Governor’s veto to support pregnancy centers. Robinson passed away earlier this year.
Day said no matter what happens after November 5, Democrats for Life will continue to support pregnancy centers.
