As a woman hurt by abortion, I celebrate the overturn of Roe, yet the battle continues to rage at the state level. Ohio is one such state that is in the hotbed of political debate as voters will face off on Issue 1 - a ballot measure that seeks to make abortion a right in the Ohio Constitution. This radical pro-abortion amendment is slated for a November 7, 2023, vote.
As a woman impacted by abortion, I am horrified when I ponder the potential devastation “The Right to Reproductive Freedom with Protections for Health and Safety” could unleash upon Ohio babies, children and families. If this amendment is passed it will become “law” under the Ohio Constitution.
This amendment is so loosely and vaguely written, it only serves to confuse persons as to its full implications and ramifications.

One Christian pregnancy resource center has decided to do something to clear the confusion on this critical ballot measure. Hope Rising pregnancy center serves clients through four locations in the Dayton, Ohio, region. Their unchanging mission is to provide compassionate, nonjudgmental support and service to women and men who are struggling with pregnancy decisions. In light of the current amendment threat, they have expanded their outreach by creating an “Ohio Election Info” tab, featured on their dedicated Supporters of Hope Rising website.

Their Ohio Election Information link offers an abundance of relevant, targeted online information and printable resources which serve to carve through confusion and bring stark clarity on the alarming threat this amendment poses to Ohio families. If Issue 1 is not defeated, Ohio may very well invite the same devastation that is now happening in Michigan, which passed a strikingly similar amendment, Prop 3 - enshrining abortion rights in their constitution, just last year!
Eyeing to thwart this threat, Hope Rising pregnancy center additionally offers a speakers bureau — providing persons fully equipped and adept at articulating the various angles and elements of this amendment. Hope Rising Pregnancy Center is eager to serve church congregations, organizations and groups to educate on Issue 1.
You may ask, what does Issue 1 in Ohio have to do with life-minded persons in other states? As mentioned, with a strikingly similar pro-abortion amendment which passed in Michigan just last year, the writing is on the wall that this battle will continue to cross other state lines. A win for life in Ohio is a win for all! When we unite, we confront the false narrative that the majority of Americans are pro-abortion. We instead amplify a life message that transforms hearts. Each state that wins can offer its successful strategies when the battle is waged in other states.
