“Discuss and decide” should not be how human rights, human responsibilities, and fundamental respect for humans are determined.
But that is what Senate Democrats (as well as one of their own governors who happens to be a physician) believe about the rights of a living, human being who has arrived into the world having survived an abortion attempt.
The basic human right to life is, as the U.S. Declaration of Independence determines, a “self-evident” truth.
Safeguarding human life is the heart of health care. Recently, philosophers and ethicists identified four widely accepted goals of medicine. Drawing from the first and fourth of those, modern health care is oriented to “…promoting and maintaining health [and]…avoiding premature death.”
Yet somehow these universal goals of medicine are now overshadowed by the specter of the right to terminate a tiny human through abortion. In the words of physician and Governor Ralph Northam (D-VA), “The infant [surviving an abortion] would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”

A “discussion”?! “Desired?” That is simply not medicine, but politics.
Supporters of such arbitrary “medicine” are the same people who allege that grassroots, faith-motivated pregnancy help centers are “fake clinics.” Abortion proponents who label compassionate, life-affirming health care as “fake” simultaneously demand that health care denies its own goals, all in order to protect so-called “abortion rights.”
In effect, they are demanding “fake health care.” One that “discusses” which life is “desired” and, therefore, worth saving.
Shameful. And desperately bereft of the necessary compassion for another individual that has been the hallmark of health care for a millennia. Mengele would be proud. The rest of us are, rightly, mortified.
So the next time you hear pregnancy help centers maligned as “fake clinics,” remember that those same people offer a full-throated support for deadly “fake health care.”
