Sponsored by the Permanent Mission of Guatemala to the United Nations and organized by C-Fam, this event highlighted how pro-life policies safeguard the dignity of women and girls and promote optimal health outcomes by protecting their emotional and physical well-being. The Declaration backs a strategic international coalition to protect the sovereign right of nations to support their own core values through national policy and legislation.

“The Geneva Consensus Declaration is an opportunity for every nation of the world to take perhaps one of the most meaningful steps it can take to advance the well-being, dignity, and health of its women," Ellen Foell, international program specialist at Heartbeat International. "And until every nation offers the woman in an unplanned pregnancy the material aid free of charge, the health care, the resources and compassionate care they need and deserve, a global network of life-affirming organizations, expressed in national and local centers stands ready to provide the help women need today and advance her well-being tomorrow.”

As the world’s largest network of pregnancy help organizations serving women and families in 90 countries with free care and support, Heartbeat International brings a unique perspective to the United Nations, sharing testimonies of the lifetime impact of women who received pregnancy help at a local pregnancy center or maternity home.

“Heartbeat International strongly affirms the Geneva Consensus Declaration and celebrates the countries that courageously stand together to affirm the dignity of women and girls by promoting optimal health outcomes for everyone involved," Jor-El Godsey, president of Heartbeat International said. "Pregnancy help is life-affirming care and compassion for every woman facing difficult challenges in her pregnancy.”
