The Advent candles are an amazing thing to walk through with family and loved ones. And the last one, the Christmas candle, reminds me of a powerful story that gets told every year, one that is not just from the scripture, but one that came to life in animation.
I am a huge fan of “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” In fact, Peanuts and their gang have been part of my life from way, way back when. This has really been one of those things when you know it's Christmas, when you start to hear the music of Vince Guaraldi and what all that has meant.
It's just a powerful tactile feeling.

There's something really amazing in the midst of that particular cartoon. There are actually several things that are lots of fun, as they battle against commercialism, really to remember exactly what Linus reminds them of, because Charlie Brown, of course, is trying to understand what Christmas is all about.
In that final scene, there's a moment of clarity when Linus steps up, and three things are present in that scenario.
First of all, he says, "Lights, please."
And so, the light is shining upon him, and he begins to quote from Luke, chapter 2, verses 8-14.
When he does that, we have the light, we have the Word. And then he does something interesting, which you have to look really close to see, he actually drops his blanket when he says, “Fear not.”
Fear not.
And that's the place that the Christ Child brings us, he brings something so that we don't have to fear the environment that we're in, the journey that we're on. We can fear not because He is our security.
This very Christ Child is our security.
Tweet This: We can ‘fear not’ in the pregnancy help community because Christ is our security.
And you know, in the pregnancy help movement, we work with those same three things.
We have the light that comes into our lives. We have the Word that we can speak, and we have the security knowing that the Christ child, Christ himself, is walking with us and working for us as we do what we do.
As He calls us, just like in that scenario that comes from Luke chapter 2, we know that a child can make a huge difference.
Of course, that child made a world, a universe, of difference. But the pregnancy help movement makes those kind of differences as well.
As we walk to save children, and as we work to have children change a family, those children come and they change lives. And that's what we get to do all the time.
And so, every time I get to see a Nativity, or I get to watch “A Charlie Brown Christmas” or for our family, we've actually following Linus's lead, we actually start our Christmas time together as a family by reading from Luke chapter 2.
In the Godsey family, the tree has the presence and before it is an open Bible open at Luke chapter 2. And from the moment that our kids can begin to read, they begin to read that passage in that scripture.
And so, with you, I celebrate exactly what we celebrated. We fear not because He is with us. He has come and we celebrate this time for what He does in our hearts and for what He allows us to do in the hearts of so many.
I am thankful for you, grateful that we share this together, and that you would have a very merry Christmas.
