Abortions are specifically intended to kill a tiny unborn baby. Everyone knows that. Death is the opposite of life. Yet this absurdity is routinely touted by abortion advocates, especially those profiting from the drug.
Planned Parenthood President and CEO Alexis McGill Johnson claimed in an interview with STAT News that abortion is “lifesaving.”
She followed up her statement by posting on X: "When we say that abortion is life-saving care — we mean it."
Chemical abortion has become the most common form of abortion conducted in the U.S. Chemical abortion pills are by and large easier to get into the hands of women facing unplanned pregnancy who are unsure of what to do and finds themselves vulnerable to the fallacy that abortion would solve their problems. Abortion proponents claim the drugs are safe, but studies have shown they have four times the risk of complications compared to surgical abortion, and an average of 5-8% of women need emergency room care for complications after a chemical abortion.

Going along with the abortion narrative, Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) said during a House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing that chemical abortion pills are "lifesaving healthcare."
“This is what an abortion looks like,” Bush said.
“Medicine is an essential form of healthcare, lifesaving," said Bush. “Medication abortion pills like this ... [are] no different than another medication that is safe and effective."
Bush said the "medication abortion" is a "lifeline" and referred to typical issues young moms in unplanned pregnancies raise at pregnancy centers.
"Medication abortion is a lifeline,” she said, “a lifeline for the person working multiple jobs that cannot afford to take a day off work because wages are too low or they don't have paid sick leave, a lifeline for the mom of two who cannot afford childcare or cannot find affordable childcare. It is a lifeline for the person who lives hundreds of miles away from the nearest clinic and does not have reliable transportation.”
Late-term abortionist Warren M. Hern actually stated in an op-ed for the New York Times that, “Pregnancy kills. Abortion saves lives."
Human Life International (HLI) tracks abortion and abortion laws around the world. According to HLI the pro-abortion claim that abortion saves lives is not unique to the U.S.
“Abortion saves lives” is a common phrase we hear touted," HLI observes.
The abortion industry claims that countries with laws limiting abortion have higher maternal death rates. HLI notes the truth, however, that, "the great majority of maternal deaths in the developing world are caused by poor health care for pregnant women, not the absence of legal abortion."
"When abortion is legalized in nations which generally have poor health care, the number of abortions dramatically increases,” HLI says further, “which leads to even more deaths of pregnant women, not less."
The international pro-life organization said as well that “a nation’s maternal mortality rate is not determined by the legal status of abortion, but by the quality of medical care provided to pregnant women."
Further on the international stage, World Health Organization Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus made the abortion as lifesaving claim after the Dobbs decision struck down Roe v. Wade, stating, “Access to safe abortion saves lives.”
Especially disappointing are statements made by Shira Fishbach, a University of Chicago medical student and would-be OB/GYN. Fishbach discussed physicians and medical students themselves who abort their own babies. Referring to her own abortion in a recent MedPage Today article. She stated:
“I felt a connection between my having an abortion and my ability to pursue my own education, to have economic freedom, to live my life the way that I wanted to. It felt like they were literally handing me that gift.”
Fishbach had already called abortion, “life-saving,” and admitted that she had a family who would have supported her if she’d had chosen life for her child.
Further and perhaps more telling was Fishbach tweet, “Dreams do come true – I’m going to be an abortion provider!”
The abortion lobby is helped in its fallacious claim that abortion drugs are lifesaving by the supportive media that reports on and repeats the claim as truth.
Conversely, Denise Harle, former senior counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom, expressed the truth about abortion drugs.
“We know that women are suffering severe complications from abortion pills in alarming numbers,” wrote in a Newsweek op-ed.
“Publicly available records, which capture only a sliver of the real picture, show hundreds of significant adverse outcomes, ranging from massive bleeding to emergency uterine surgeries,” Harle said. “The FDA has decided that none of those severe complications merit documentation.”
“And who is tasked with reporting the deaths?” Harle asked. “The drug manufacturer—the player with arguably the least incentive to rigorously record adverse effects of its multi-million-dollar product.”
It’s no surprise that abortion pill manufacturers have fought in court to preserve access to their products, but at what cost for women?
Dr. Christina Francis, CEO for the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists, also spoke the truth about the abortion pill and safety.
“Women and girls are being endangered and injured every day in our country through these dangerous chemical abortion drugs,” Francis told Newsmax.

“I am a board-certified OB/GYN, and I practice in an in-patient setting and I, personally, along with many of my colleagues, have seen women and girls come in through our emergency rooms with severe complications from these drugs, Francis said. “Complications that should be being addressed by the FDA. complications like heavy bleeding and hemorrhage and the need for emergency surgery, the need for admission to the hospital for blood transfusions and infections, and even one of our members took care of a woman who likely will not be able to have children in the future because of major complications that required two major surgeries to correct these complications due to these chemical abortion drugs.”
When a woman who has taken the abortion pills delivers a tiny dead baby at home, it's clear no life was saved.
