Placing the sanctity of life front-and-center in his campaign for Ohio Attorney General, Dave Yost’s campaign released a short video last week giving his wife, Darlene, a chance to tell her story—and to give potential voters a glimpse into why the Yost family is happy to hang their political hopes on the highly contentious issue of protecting unborn life.
Placed for adoption when she was just six months old, Darlene Yost knows first-hand how crucial advocating for improvements in adoption processes and culture can be.
“So many women feel hopeless, and feel like they only have one choice—and that’s abortion,” she said. “Life is a gift from God, and it’s not our choice.”
Serving in public office since 1999, Dave Yost is currently Ohio’s Auditor of State, and launched his bid for Attorney General in early 2017. The state’s Attorney General seat opened up in the 2018 election when current officeholder Mike DeWine—a stalwart pro-life advocate—announced he was running for governor.
“The most important, beautiful thing about all creation is life,” Yost said. “It’s not just [Darlene’s] life that’s so important to me, but it’s our three children who never would have existed, and our three grandchildren who never would have existed [had her mother aborted her instead of placing her for adoption].”
