While a series of miracles brought Isaac and Annabelle Ssebakijje to the U.S. this spring, the couple returned to Uganda with a miracle of their own.
The Ssebekijje’s, co-founders of the Remnant Generation—a pro-life NGO serving women and families with much-needed education, HIV/AIDS testing, pregnancy support and more—took a bold leap of faith to attend Heartbeat International’s 2016 Annual Conference in Atlanta in late March.
In the five years since they first registered as an NGO in Uganda, the Remnant Generation has never had an annual budget of $2,000—a total that represented less than half their travel bill, even with the conference registration fees and hotel covered by a scholarship through Heartbeat International.
Traveling on borrowed funds, the Ssebakijje’s barely caught a connection flight in Frankfurt, Germany before finally touching down in Atlanta for the three-day event.

As they prepared to make the journey back to Uganda—now prepared to add on abortion recovery to their existing suite of services—the Ssebakijje’s were pulled aside by Save the Storks President Paul Isaacs, who had become familiar with the couple and their ministry throughout the conference.
That’s when the real miracle came about.
Hearing their story, Isaacs was able to connect them with a Storks board member who owns businesses in Uganda.
Then, Save the Storks pulled out its wallet to reimburse Remnant Generation and the Ssebakijje’s for their travel costs. Finally, Issacs presented the couple with a brand-new portable ultrasound machine.
“We returned to Uganda debt-free with a portable ultrasound scanning machine that will change the lives of mothers and babies in Uganda,” Annabelle Ssebakijje said, pointing out that the machine will be a perfect compliment to Remnant Generation’s already existing mobile medical services.

A Colorado Springs-based organization that focuses on supporting local life-affirming pregnancy centers’ efforts to reach clients through their Stork busses—state-of-the-art Mercedes Sprinter mobile ultrasound units designed for peak mobility—Save the Storks also invests in pregnancy centers through StorkWorks Consulting, merchandising, Storks Coffee, and more.
At the 2016 Heartbeat International Annual Conference alone, Save the Storks gave away several thousand dollars in scholarships toward Stork busses to U.S. pregnancy help organizations, including a $32,000 grant to an Ohio center that recently opened its fifth location in May, 2016.
Another Save the Storks bus is slated to hit the road as early as this fall in New York, becoming the state’s only mobile ultrasound unit.

Overall, Save the Storks paid out around a quarter of a million dollars to help get local pregnancy centers on the road with ultrasound in 2014, and now have 18 busses in operation throughout the U.S.
In Uganda, the Ssebakijje’s are hopeful the new mobile ultrasound machine helps propel Remnant Generation into a new season of life-saving effectiveness.
“We our overwhelmed with the blessing that Save the Storks has given us,” Annabelle Ssebakijje said. “With this machine, we are going to be able to move into rural areas where we are going to be able to serve more than 300 women on every outreach.
“Together, we are going to be saving many babies from being aborted when the mothers get to realize the reality that there is a heartbeat inside of their womb. We look forward to transforming Uganda one life at a time.”
