Pregnancy centers around the nation have a sacred trust to both save and change lives. This God-given responsibility is built around a calling to “speak up for those who cannot” (Pr. 31:8) and to show God’s forgiving love as we “love one another” (1 Jn 4:10-11). To be clear, this is the greatest calling possible as centers bring light into the lives of their community.
While the calling is clear, the method of reaching that goal is a bit more fluid. Advocating for life is built into the job description, but what comes after that? What should your interactions with the woman and her family be? How much should you support her?
We believe God’s answer is clear: we are to continue showing loving care in all ways possible. This means being able to give them a hand up through classes and material support they can earn. This means growing a relationship with each client and sharing the love of Christ in both ideological and tangible ways. This means staying involved.
One of the best ways to both grow your relationship and to help your client is to offer Earn While You Learn classes. These classes give hope to your client as they learn to be better mothers and grow in their personal lives. They teach and encourage, and they ultimately give you a platform from which to speak into your client’s lives.
