Montana Governor Greg Gianforte gifted a pregnancy center in his state with $20,000 at the end of 2024, fully one-quarter of his annual salary.
This donation was part of the governor’s 12 Days of Giving, which featured a dozen organizations in the state and the work they provide in the community. A handful of those organizations received a personal check from the governor himself.
The governor presented a $20,000 check to the staff of Sunrise Women’s Clinic in Sidney in December.
Gianforte took the initiative to “give back” to Montana agencies four years ago and has continued that commitment.
“In October 2020, the governor committed to Montanans he would contribute his salary as governor to nonprofit organizations and charities in the state,” said Kaitlyn Price, press secretary for the governor’s office. “Every year since, he has done just that.”
“This year, as one of four nonprofits to receive a donation, the governor was proud to contribute a quarter of his annual salary to Sunrise Women’s Clinic to support the care and resources the organization provides to young mothers and families,” said Price. “Last year, the governor launched his third annual 12 Days of Giving campaign recognizing Hope Pregnancy Ministries, a crisis pregnancy center serving northwest Montana.”

The Sunrise Women’s Clinic branches its services into the North Dakota region as well, offering ultrasounds, education and high school visits.
“We were elated when we at Sunrise found out that the Governor would be making an appearance at our clinic!” said Executive Director Stacey McNally.
“Then, when he and his wife announced that Sunrise Clinic was going to be spotlighted in his 12 Days of Giving, our excitement could not be contained,” she said. “However, the donation of one quarter of his salary to our pregnancy center was above and beyond all of our expectations.”
“This act of genuine kindness is so typical of Governor Gianforte, which is why Montana, under his leadership, will continue to be undeniably a state that will stand true to its values and morals,” said McNally.

McNally spoke with Pregnancy Help News about how the funds will be utilized.
“We are thrilled especially, because half of this donation will go towards the purchase of our recently purchased clinic home, which will actually pay off the mortgage in its entirety,” she said. “The rest of this charitable donation will be used towards start-up costs to be able to offer another much-needed service, STI testing.”
McNalley went on to say that such an act of kindness toward the center is humbling.
“The staff, volunteers, and board of directors don't do this life-affirming work to have accolades or recognition,” she said. “We all serve this ministry to further God's work and give those coming through our door hope, love, worth, and relationship. But, to have Governor Gianforte give us this recognition is beyond words for all of us.”
The donation by the Montana governor may not have come as a surprise to his constituents.
“Governor Gianforte is proudly pro-life and believes that all life is precious and must be protected,” said Price, adding, “last year, the governor strengthened Montana law to protect life and signed into law a series of bills to protect the unborn and prevent taxpayer dollars from funding elective abortions.”
