Once again, Heartbeat International has attained the distinction of being a "top-rated" non-profit organization by GreatNonprofits.
The charity review website encourages clients, donors, and volunteers to comment and rate their experience with thousands of nonprofits.
Not only has Heartbeat earned the designation of "top-rated” for this year, but for every year since 2016 as well.

GreatNonprofits asks each charity to reach out to friends and clients to garner their feedback directly, said Cindi Boston, vice president of Mission Advancement for Heartbeat International.
"Our goal is to obtain at least 10 reviews to be completed,” Boston said. “But in 2023, when we sent out our email asking for reviews from Heartbeat affiliates, clients, and donors, we received 50+ responses with 5 out of 5-star ratings. All came in within a few weeks time."
This year's responses came from, "clients who used Option Line or Abortion Pill Rescue® Network (APRN) services, affiliates who utilize Heartbeat's training and educational programs, and donors who trust Heartbeat to fulfill our life-saving mission with excellence,” Boston said.

The "top-rated" designation is important for those looking for information on Heartbeat, the largest network of pregnancy help in the U.S. and the world.
"It gives a way for donors, volunteers, and clients to share their stories and give input about their experiences with Heartbeat,” said Boston. “It brings authentic feedback to people seeking information about those we serve."
In addition to viewing comments and reviews, donors are able to contribute directly from the GreatNonprofits site.
Terri Barnhart, a manager in Mission Advancement for Heartbeat, sees the benefits of the top-rated distinction.
"Most people say they're more likely to donate to a non-profit with the top-rated badge,” Barnhart said. “Having the badge visible on websites, newsletters, and envelopes informs people of how we're viewed, both within and without the organization. It helps our image, reputation, and public awareness of what we do."
“GreatNonprofits builds donor trust by sharing the recommendations and stories of partners, volunteers, board members, clients, etc.,” she said. “Annually, they send us a reminder to let our comrades how they can help us keep out high rating, and every year they come out in spades! That is truly the extent of our certification with them."
"We are also rated very highly through Charity Navigator, BBB, GuideStar, and Excellence in Giving,” Barnhart noted.
“These organizations have rather rigorous applications that review operational and financial aspects and transparency of a charitable org,” she said. “All of these accreditations serve to help assure donors that we are responsible with their funds and worthy of their trust."
“The affiliates, donors, board, staff, volunteers, and so many others who love us, really love us and are willing to share that with the world,” said Barnhart. “Within 24 hours of our email request, we received 42 positive reviews in multiple languages.”
Here is one heartwarming story sent in by a Heartbeat International client:
"They are the reason my son is alive. They were there when I realized how huge of a mistake I made when I took the first abortion pill. To this day, they still reach out and offer support and love! My son is a year-and-a-half!"
"Heartbeat International provides excellent leadership and training for affiliated centers,” another said. “We are proud to be a Heartbeat center and appreciate the high standards to which they challenge us and other affiliates. I am grateful for their insight and encouragement as a leader and as a co-laborer in the cause of Life.”
“This world-wide organization does so much to assist women with unplanned pregnancies,” said a third. “Their work is excellent.”

Andrea Trudden, vice president of Communications & Marketing at Heartbeat, remarked how the response by Heartbeat’s constituents reflected the value of the non-profit pregnancy help network’s service to affiliates and moms in need.
"We are proud of the work we do through our network of pregnancy help and we invite people to write reviews sharing their experience with us," Trudden said. "We were humbled by the response, and it truly affirms the work we do through our network of pregnancy help."
